About

I am an artist/film maker who also enjoys writing short narratives: these might take the form of observations, reflections on chance encounters, notes about everyday incidents, and that’s what some small souvenirs is about. How might this develop? Of that I’m not sure but let’s see…

May 2011

It’s now more than a year since I began this blog, and I’m writing again after a long silence, at least on this site. In the intervening time my attention has been focused elsewhere, but still on making short films and writing: http://animaginedcountry.com

As with the short posts and stories last year, and these new stories, my preoccupations are still with the pier and promenade; locations I find infinitely absorbing. The short films I’ve been making with Teresa Cairns, in Peterborough http://vimeo.com/35794840 around homelessness and substance use continue to inform my responses to life on the prom, to what I observe in my wanderings.

Scattered across this blog are some of my short stories first performed by Bernadette Russell and Gareth Brierley at Are You Sitting Comfortably, a regular story telling event presented by White Rabbit at the Basement in Brighton. http://www.thewhiterabbit.org.uk/
Ether Books have published these stories. Download the app for iPhone & iPad to read them: http://www.etherbooks.com/

And I’ve recently launched my new website (with Teresa Cairns). Please visit us at: http://climbingthewall.net/
